Updated 4-01-2008 Welcome to our place! It’s great to have you stopping by our website to check out the “happenings” for the upcoming hillclimb season. If you are a first time visitor and want to know more about us and how we got started check out the “Hillclimb News” section in the left menu. It has stories and newspaper articles that go back to Day ONE! You’ll also find schedules that show the dates of future events. Simply click on the Schedule button to view that information. Well let’s get started. If Mindy and I had to describe our “project” in one sentence it would be “WOW, this is turning out great!” The 2003 and 2004 seasons were a test and it worked out better than we had expected! A large amount of fun was had by all at our events. 2005 was a learning year with the sanctioning body problems but by 2006 we had our own system established and has proven to work for us much better. 2006 was definitely a building year for us! Our son, Devin William Halter was born Feb 11th, 2006! His arrival strengthened our family goals and made our whole future much brighter! Also in 2006 Halter Motorsports extended the event season by opening up a new hillclimb in Mesquite, Nevada. This was a big move for us but the results were definitely worth it. The Desert Heat Hillclimb was attended by many riders and spectators. We were very pleased with the results. Then in May of 2006 we experienced our first hillclimb promoters nightmare, a Rain-out! It was not fun but we learned from the experience. We survived the ordeal and went on into the fall to host one of the best hillclimbs we’ve ever had. The 2006 Rattlesnake Hillclimb broke our previous rider attendance record! Several years of hard work and determination were really starting to pay off! Our 2007 plans of advancing our hillclimb season have happened with the addition of an event in Canada! Drumheller, Alberta hosted the finals event of our First Annual “BIG TIME International” Hillclimb series! The 2007 series consisted of three events in the following locations: Mesquite, Nevada USA February 2007 Fort Benton, Montana USA May 2007 Drumheller, Alberta Canada August 2007 Complete Stories for the 2007 Season can be found in our Results Section (left column) 2007 was a ground-breaking year with several HIGHS and lows. We set records with rider count and hosted the ONLY Bonafide International Hillclimb Series on the Planet! But Mother Nature was not kind to us. The rain was a real challenge but we persevered and completed the season with respectable results. Live and Learn sums up 2007! 2008 started with a newly proposed March event in St. George, Utah. This new hill is within 10 minutes of St. George (population 100,000+) and 25 minutes from Mesquite, Nevada (Spring Hillclimb Party Town). Unfortunately the permit had issues and was not cleared in time so the event will have to wait until 2009. The future for hillclimbing in St. George looks very promising and we will do everything we can to make it happen. The Spring BIG TIME Hillclimb will be hosted at the Halter Motorsports Ranch in Fort Benton Montana on June 7th & 8th. This event will be hosted two weekends AFTER Memorial weekend. This schedule adjustment promises to offer more spectator attendance and hopefully less of a weather threat. All of the BIG TIME Hills will be NEW. Expect to see exciting competition between riders who have only one goal in mind = UP and OVER.... FAST!! The BIG TIME International Finals will be held in Drumheller, Alberta Canada on August 23rd & 24th. The Canada Sunday Championship Hill is unconquered but it's days are numbered!! If you or your kids are interested in competing this year give us a call (or e-mail) anytime if you have any questions! There will be deadlines for entries and set rules to abide by so get prepared early! If you want to volunteer to help us this year as a crewmember, I would like to hear from you ASAP. We have a lot of workers now but could use more. There are several perks that crewmembers get, plus with more workers it gets easier and smoother for everyone. Let us know! Check back here anytime for Event news or updates. Mark your calendars and make plans to get out to our place for all of the action! See you soon! John and Mindy Halter - Halter Motorsports |
